“One of the many local and natural attractions in the Lot department.”
Just a short 5-minute drive to our local village you can discover one of my favourite locations in the area, a beautiful inland freshwater lake and man-made beach, Le Lac Vert. The locals call it a sports lake since as an attraction it provides a lot of fun activities for a family day out. Recently dredged and cleaned with water quality monitored by the council it provides an ideal spot for a family day out with your feet in the water.
The Lake itself is great for swimming at any level and with an area cordoned off for the littles ones which is supervised by a lifeguard at certain times of the day. Stronger swimmers are able to swim right across. There are even pedalos available for hire too, a great experience for the children.
The sandy beach is refreshed each year and borders onto a lovely grass area with plenty of trees for shade. Just beyond this area is a great children’s playground, tennis courts, table tennis and a basketball court too and free to use. You can even fish in the lake with an appropriate licence bought from the local Tabac.
Adjacent to the beach and play area is a cafe providing an outside shaded area with tasty food as well as a large assortment of ice creams and lollies to cool you down as the temperature soars.
It was ideal for my brother and his family who visited Pagel with us last season. He and I are keen runners and found the Lake to be perfect for a quick morning jog, while the kids were sleeping. (Of course, on the way back we simply had to stop off to pick up a fresh baguette and some pain au chocolat from the local Boulangerie, to compliment our lazy breakfast on the terrace.)
As one of our guests from last season gushed:
“Ideal in the event of a heatwave…all day fun for the family, free parking and plenty of shade.”
